You are like salt and light – Matthew 5:13-16, 43-45
Jesus said “You are like salt.
Salt stops food from going bad.
It makes food taste better.
If salt loses its saltiness, it is no good.
You must be like good salt.
You can do that by being good and kind.
Then people can see that you make them feel better.”
Jesus said, “You are like a light in a dark place.
People do not hide a light where it cannot be seen.
They put it where it can give us lots of light.
Then it shines through the whole house.
It can light up the street and the city.
I want you to be bright just as a light is bright.
You can do that if you let people see that you are good.”
Let people see that you are happy.
Let people hear you talk about how good God is.
If you tell people that you love God, they will want to love him too.
“I want you to love everyone;
pray for people who are bad to you.
Then they will know that you are God’s friend.”
This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
