Jesus teaches his friends – Matthew 5:1-12

Jesus went and sat down on a quiet hillside.
He began to teach his friends.

He said,
“Happy are those who know that they need God.
He will be their King.

Happy are those who feel alone and unworthy.
God will put his arms around them.

Happy are those who are humble and ordinary.
God will give them everything they need.

Happy are those who long to know God.
He will help them to learn about himself.

Happy are those who are caring and kind.
God will take care of them.

Happy are those whose heart is pure.
They will see God everywhere.

Happy are those who love peace.
God will call them his children.

You are blessed
when people are unkind because you do what is right.
You will see God’s Kingdom in Heaven.

You are blessed
when people say nasty things about you because you love me.
Be glad because you have a reward in Heaven.
People were cruel to others who loved and worked for God.”
