Pharaoh’s dreams – Genesis 41:1-40
After two years Pharaoh had two dreams.
In the first dream he was standing beside the river Nile.
Seven fat cows and seven thin cows
were eating the grass.
Then the seven thin cows ate the fat cows.
In the second dream
he saw seven fat and seven thin ears of corn.
The thin ears of corn ate the fat ones.
When Pharaoh woke up he was worried.
He sent for all the wise men.
None of them knew what the dreams meant.
Then the butler remembered Joseph.
He told Pharaoh. Pharaoh sent for Joseph.
He told him his dreams.
Joseph told Pharaoh what the dreams meant.
The seven fat cows and corn were like seven good years.
The seven thin ones were like seven bad years.
There would be seven years of plenty in Egypt.
Then there would be seven years when nothing would grow.
Joseph told Pharaoh to store up food in the good years.
Then in the seven bad years he would have food.
Pharaoh was very pleased.
He freed Joseph.
He put him in charge of his house.
