Abraham trusts God – Genesis 22-23
One day God said to Abraham,
“I want you and Isaac to go Moriah.
It is in the mountains. I will show you the way.
I know you love Isaac very much.
I want you to give Isaac as a present to me.
Give him as a burnt offering.”
Abraham obeyed God.
The next day he went with Isaac.
They walked for three days. They came to the mountains.
God showed Abraham the way.
Abraham found Moriah.
Abraham and Isaac got some wood to burn.
Isaac said, “Where is the lamb to give to God?”
Abraham said, “God will give us a lamb.”
Abraham made the wood into a pile.
He put Isaac on the pile.
Then an angel stopped Abraham.
He said, “God is pleased with you.
You obey him. You trust him.
Now he knows you love him very much.
You would give him your son as a present.”
The angel showed Abraham a lamb in the bushes.
God said to Abraham,
“You can keep Isaac. Kill the lamb as a present for me.”
Abraham thanked God. God blessed him.
He told Abraham he would be the first
of a very big family.
God was pleased Abraham had obeyed him.
Sarah died at Hebron. Abraham was very sad.
The people gave him a place to bury Sarah.
