Jesus is crucified – Luke 23:26-49

They led Jesus away to be crucified.
The soldiers made a man called Simon carry the cross for Jesus.
When they came to the right place, they crucified Jesus.
Two thieves were crucified too.
One was on the right of Jesus and one on the left.
Jesus said, “Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing.”
The soldiers shared Jesus’ clothes between them.
Some of the people who were watching called out to Jesus.
“He saved others. Let him save himself if he is the Son of God.”
The soldiers said, “If you are a King, save yourself.”
There was a sign on the cross.
‘This is the King of the Jews’.

One of the thieves shouted to Jesus.
He said, “Save yourself and us.”
The other one said, “Do you not fear God?
We deserved our punishment but Jesus has done nothing wrong.”
Then he said, “Lord, remember me when you come as King.”
Jesus said, “I tell you the truth. Today you will be with me in Paradise.”
It was about 12 noon but it got very dark.
The sun stopped shining.
It was dark until about 3 o-clock in the afternoon.
Jesus called out, “Father into your hands I give my spirit.”
Then Jesus stopped breathing and died.

A soldier praised God and said, “Certainly this was a good man.”
Many people who knew Jesus stood afar off.
They watched these things that happened.
