Five bread rolls and two fishes – John 6:1-14

Jesus sailed across the lake in a boat with his friends.
A lot of other people followed him.
Jesus went up a hill and sat down on the grass with his friends.
He saw all the people coming up the hill.
“Where can we buy food for all these people?” Jesus asked.
“If we gave everyone something to eat
that would cost a lot of money”, said Jesus’ friend.
Andrew, another of Jesus’ friends said,
“There is a boy here who has five bread rolls and two fishes,
but that is not enough.”

Jesus told his friends to make the people sit down.
All the people sat down on the grass.
There were about 5000 men.

Jesus took the bread and thanked God.
Then he gave some to all the people.
Jesus did the same thing with the fish.
Everyone ate as much as they wanted.
Jesus told his friends to tidy up.
They gathered all the pieces of food that were left over.
They filled 12 baskets with the leftovers.
All the people knew that what Jesus had done was a miracle.
Jesus went away to a quiet place.
He wanted to be alone.
