Words of Warning – Matthew 7:1-23

Jesus said, “Do not judge people, because you will be judged too.
Why do you look at the bit of dust in someone’s eye?
Can’t you see the plank of wood in your own eye?
How can you see them unless you take the wood from your own eye?

Ask God and he will give you.
He will open the door to those who knock.

If your child asks you for bread, would you give him a stone?
If he asks for fish, would you give him a snake?
Of course not.
You know how to give good things to your children.
How much more will God give good things to his children?

You must do for others what you would like them to do for you.
That is what God wants.

Watch out for people who tell lies about God.
They may pretend to be your friend and say they are from God.
You will know them by the way they behave.

You cannot pick grapes from a thorn bush.
You cannot pick figs from a thistle.
So a good tree has good fruit.
A bad tree cannot grow good fruit.

You will know false teachers by the way they live for God.

Not all the people who say ‘Lord, Lord’ are my people.
Only the ones who do what God says are real Christians.
Many people will say, ‘Look what I did for you.’
I will say, ‘Go away. I never knew you.’ ”
