The farmers and the vineyard – Matthew 21:33-41
Jesus told another story.
A man bought a field.
He planted some grape vines in the field.
A vineyard is a field of grape vine plants.
The man made a wall around the field.
The man, who was the owner, went away on a journey.
He got some workers to work in the field.
At harvest time, he sent three of his servants to the field.
He wanted some of the grapes.
The workers beat up one of the servants.
They killed another servant.
They threw stones at the third servant.
The owner sent more servants to the field.
The workers did the same to them.
Last of all, the man sent his son to the field to get some grapes.
The workers saw him coming.
They said, “This is the owner’s son. One day the vineyard will be his.
Let us kill him and steal the vineyard for ourselves.”
So they killed the man’s son.
What do you think the owner will do when he comes?
He will punish those workers.
He will get more workers, who will give him his share of the harvest.
