Simeon meets the baby Jesus – Luke 2:21-32

The mother and father of Jesus were called Mary and Joseph. When Jesus was still a little baby his mother and father took him to Jerusalem. They took him to church. They wanted to thank God for their son Jesus.

An old man called Simeon lived in Jerusalem. He was a good man. He loved God. God told Simeon that he would see Jesus who was the Son of God. He would not die until he had seen Jesus.

Simeon went into the church in Jerusalem. Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to Simeon. Simeon took the baby Jesus into his arms. He knew Jesus was the Son of God. Simeon praised and thanked God.

He said, 'Lord my God. You have kept your promise. I am very happy. Now I can die. For I have seen Jesus your Son who will save many people.'

Simeon was very happy. He was happy for ever.

1. Simeon was a good man. He loved God. He talked to God. God talked to Simeon.
2. Simeon knew God. He knew Jesus was God's Son when he saw him even though Jesus was a little baby.
3. Simeon was happy to meet Jesus. He was happy for ever.
