Luke 3:1-22

John the Baptist and Jesus

About the next group of questions

In this passage we read how John the Baptist spoke a message from God. He spoke to the people who came to listen to him. He also baptised them. This was a sign that they wanted to stop doing bad things. We also read how Jesus came for John to baptise him. And we read about something special that happened after that.

Final remarks

John came and told people to change their way of life. They should be ready for Jesus. And they should listen to what he would say to them. God wants us to obey him in what we say and do. John was not afraid to tell people if they were doing wrong. When John baptised Jesus, the Father spoke to Jesus. He said that he was pleased with him. Then the Holy Spirit came down on Jesus like a bird called a dove. All three members of the Trinity were there.

Pray

Lord Jesus, thank you for all that you have done for me. Your Father and the Holy Spirit encouraged you before you went into the desert. I am so glad about that. Amen.
