Jesus heals a man on the Sabbath
An EasyEnglish Story Unit (AEE) from Matthew’s Good News
Joyce Ferrie
Jesus went into the church on the Sabbath day.
The Sabbath was like our Sunday.
The people were told not to do any work on that day.
A man whose hand was very twisted was in the church.
He could not use his hand.
Some people asked Jesus,
“Is it all right to make someone well on the Sabbath?”
These people were trying to get Jesus into trouble.
Jesus said, “If you had a sheep and it fell down a hole on the Sabbath,
would you lift it out of the hole?
A man is worth a lot more than a sheep.
It is right to do good on the Sabbath.”
Jesus asked the man to stretch out his twisted hand.
The man did that and his hand was just as good as his other hand.
Jesus had made it whole again.
Those men who had tried to get Jesus into trouble made plans.
They wanted to kill Jesus.
Matthew 12:9-14.
