Paul is angry with Peter at Antioch

(Peter himself has not done what is right)

Bible verses

Galatians 2:11-22

A word list at the end of each Bible study explains words that have a star by them. These are more difficult words.

Introduction

Peter had been one of Jesus’ special friends. Now he was an important leader and teacher. At the beginning Peter did what was right. But later he did not do what was right. And then other Christians agreed with him.

This was in Antioch. This was part of the country that now we call Syria. Most people in Antioch were from the country called Greece. Some of these people became Christians. But some Jews thought that the new Christians should obey the Jewish rules. The Jewish rules said that Jews and Gentiles should not eat together. Wrong teachers also wanted to circumcise Christians who were Gentiles.

Now Christ has come. And Paul explains why Christians do not need
to obey the Jewish rules.

Something to do

Paul talked to Peter when he did wrong. Talk about the way he did this. Talk about what we can learn from this.

Some rules you have to obey – at work, when you drive and so on. Talk about this, and whether you always obey the rules. Talk about why the rules are there.

Read v 20 again. Think about your life. If Christ lives through you this week, he will guide all your thoughts and actions. Think about what might be different.
