The story of two friends Abraham and Abimelech – Genesis 20, 21:22-32
Abraham and Sarah moved house again.
They went to live in a place called Gerar.
When they were in Gerar
Abraham said Sarah was his sister again.
The King of Gerar was called Abimelech.
He liked Sarah. He took her to his house.
God spoke to him while he was asleep.
God told Abimelech that Sarah was married.
He told Abimelech that Abraham had lied.
Sarah was not Abraham’s sister.
She was his wife.
God knew that Abimelech had not done anything wrong.
Abimelech was angry with Abraham.
He asked to see him.
He said to Abraham
"Why did you tell me a lie?"
Abraham said he was afraid
that Abimelech would kill him.
But Abimelech gave Sarah back to Abraham.
He obeyed God. He was a good man.
He forgave Abraham and Sarah.
He gave them sheep and cows.
He gave them lots of money.
Then Abraham asked God to make
Abimelech better again.
God healed Abimelech and all his family.
Abraham and Abimelech became good friends.
They gave each other presents.
They helped each other.
