The beginning of the world – Genesis 1-2:3

God made heaven and the world.
The world was dark so God made light.
He made the days and he made the nights.
It was good. God was pleased.
This was the first day.

The next day God made the sea.
He made the land and the sky.
It was good. God was pleased.
This was the second day.

The next day God made all the plants.
He made grass and trees and flowers.
He made lots of seeds and fruits and vegetables.
It was good. God was pleased.
This was the third day.

The next day God made the stars.
He made the moon to be a light in the night.
He made the sun to be a light in the day.
The moon was bright. The sun was very bright.
It was good. God was pleased.
This was the fourth day.

The next day God made the fish in the sea.
He made all the things to live in the water.
It was good. God was pleased. He blessed them all.
He made the birds.
He gave them wings to fly in the sky.
It was good. God was pleased.
He blessed them all.
This was the fifth day.

The next day God made all the animals.
He made wild animals like lions and tigers.
He made tame animals like sheep and cows.
They lived on the land.
God was pleased with them all.

Then God made a man and a woman.
They looked like him.
The man and the woman were the best thing God made.
They were better than all the animals.
God blessed the man and woman.
He gave them plants and fruit to eat.
God was pleased.
This was the sixth day.

God looked at all the things he had made.
He saw everything was very good.
So he had a rest. He did not do any work.
This was the seventh day.
God blessed the seventh day and made it holy.
