Crossing the Red Sea – Exodus 13:17-14:31

God led the Israelites through the desert.
In the daytime they followed a cloud God put in the sky.
In the night they followed a fire God put in the sky.
They followed these. This was the way.
God led them to the Red Sea. They camped on the shore.
God told them to stay there.

Pharaoh was chasing them now.
God said he would save the Israelites.
God was greater than the king of Egypt.
The Israelites were afraid of the Egyptian army.
They cried to God for help.
Moses said, ‘Do not be afraid. God will fight for us.
Be still and wait for the Lord.’

Then God told Moses to stretch his staff over the sea.
Moses did this and a strong wind blew.
The wind rolled the water back and the land was dry.
The Israelites walked through the sea on dry land.
The Egyptians chased them.

But then God told Moses to stretch his hand out again.
The water rushed back and drowned all the Egyptians.
But the Israelites were all safe. God saved them.
All the Israelites put their trust in God.
They knew that God had given Moses to help them.
