A Man plants some seeds – Luke 8:4-15
Jesus told this story.
A man went to plant some seeds.
He scattered the seeds on his field.
Some of the seeds fell on the path.
The birds ate the seeds.
Some of the seeds fell on rocky ground.
The seeds began to grow but they soon died.
They were too dry.
Some seeds fell among the weeds.
The weeds grew bigger than the seeds.
The seeds died.
The weeds choked those seeds.
Some of the seeds fell on good earth.
The seeds grew into healthy plants.
They grew good grain.
Jesus said, “If you people have ears, listen to me.”
Later, Jesus’ friends asked him what this story meant.
“The seed is like God’s word.
The seeds on the path are like people who hear
but the Devil comes and takes God’s word away from their minds.
That stops them from believing God’s word and being saved.
The seeds on the rocky ground are like people who listen.
They believe the message for a little while.
They soon stop believing.
They have not got God’s word planted deeply in their hearts.
The seeds that fell amongst the weeds are like the people who hear God’s word but all their money and pleasures come first.
They never do anything for God.
The seeds on the good ground are like people who hear God’s word,
obey it and keep on working for God.”
