Jesus was arrested – John 18:1-40
Jesus and his friends went out at night.
It was dark.
They went to a garden.
Jesus had been there many times with his friends.
Judas knew the place.
He came into the garden with soldiers and guards.
They had swords and lanterns.
“Who are you looking for?” asked Jesus.
“Jesus”, they said.
“I am he”, he said. “If you are looking for me let the others go.”
Jesus’ friend Peter had a sword.
He cut off a man’s ear with the sword.
Jesus said, “Put your sword away.”
Jesus touched the man’s ear and healed him. Luke 22:51.
The soldiers arrested Jesus, tied him up and took him to the leaders.
The leaders asked Jesus some questions.
Then they sent him to the Governor.
The Governor’s name was Pilate.
Pilate asked Jesus, “Are you the King of the Jews?”
Jesus said, “My Kingdom is not of this world.”
Pilate went back to the people and said,
“This man has not done anything wrong.
I always let one prisoner free at this holiday time.
Shall I set this Jesus, the King of the Jews free?”
“No, not Jesus”, the people shouted.
“Set free Barabbas the bandit.”
