Prayer is asking God for help – Matthew 8:5-13

Jesus was going to a town.
A captain from the Roman army came up to him.
The Captain had a servant at home.
The servant could not move.
The servant was in a lot of pain.
“Please make my servant better”, said the Captain.
“Yes”, said Jesus, “I will come and heal him.”

But the Captain said:
“I am not good enough for you to come to my house.
Just say the words, “Be well” and my servant will be well.
I know you have power to do this.”

Jesus was surprised and pleased that the Captain trusted him so much.
He said to the Captain:
“You can go home now.
Your servant is well.”
And it was true.

Jesus was pleased that the Captain had asked for help.
Jesus was pleased that the Captain trusted him.
He wants us to ask him for help.
He wants us to trust him.
