Jesus walks on the water – Matthew 14:22-33

After Jesus had given food to all the people, they went home.
His friends went home in their boat.
Jesus went up the hillside to pray.
He wanted to talk to God.

When evening came, Jesus was alone.
He saw the boat on the lake far away.
It was very windy.
The boat was tossed about on the waves.

Very early in the morning, Jesus came near to the boat.
He was walking on top of the water.
His friends were scared.
They thought it was a ghost.
Jesus called to them, “It is I. Do not be afraid.”

Peter, one of Jesus’ friends, was in the boat.
He said, “If it is really you, let me walk on the water.
Let me come to you.”
” Come”, said Jesus.
Peter got out of the boat.
He began to walk on the water.
He felt the wind. He saw the waves.
He was scared.
Peter began to sink.
“Save me”, he shouted.
Jesus grabbed hold of him.
“Why did you stop believing?” Jesus said.

Peter and Jesus got into the boat.
The other men in the boat said,
“You really are the Son of God.”
