Wonderful Counsellor – Isaiah 9:6

Isaiah was a man who lived about 700 years before Jesus.
Isaiah wrote a book.
God helped Isaiah to write his book.
The book was about what God would do in the future.
In his book Isaiah wrote:

A child has been born for our good.
A baby boy has been sent to help us.
He will rule the world.
He will have very great power.
His name will be ‘Wonderful Counsellor’.

A counsellor is a person who gives advice.
He gives people advice about what they should do.

Here is some advice that Jesus gave.

Jesus said:
‘There was once a wise man.
He built a house.
He built his house on hard rock.
It rained very heavily.
The rivers flooded.
The wind blew hard against the house.
The house did not fall down.
It did not fall because the man had built it on hard rock.
You should be like the wise man.
Listen to me.
Obey me.
Then you will be a wise person.

Another man was stupid.
He built a house too.
He built his house on soft sand.
It rained very heavily.
The rivers flooded.
The wind blew hard against the house.
The house fell down.
It fell down because the man had built it on soft sand.
Don’t be like the stupid man.
Listen to me.
Obey me.
Be a wise person.’

This is good advice.
Jesus was giving his people good advice.
Jesus gave his people lots of good advice.
Jesus still gives us good advice.
He is our wonderful counsellor.

Isaiah had said that Jesus would be the wonderful counsellor.
What Isaiah had written came true in Jesus.
