Mark 8:27

Peter says that Jesus is the Messiah

8:27Messiah is a Hebrew word for a king that God has chosen to rule his people. In the Greek language the word is ‘Christ.’ God promised his people that the Messiah would come to rescue them, and to be their king.

27 Then Jesus and his disciples went to visit some villages. They were near to the town of Caesarea Philippi. On the way, Jesus asked his disciples, ‘When people talk about me, who do they say that I am?’
