Mark 3:1-6 (see Mark's Gospel in EasyEnglish)

The *Pharisees were against Jesus. And they wanted to hurt him. They thought that he was doing something bad. They thought that Jesus was not obeying one of God's rules. That rule said that people must not work on the 7th day of the week. (Deuteronomy 5:12-15)

Jesus knew that God had given the rules for a purpose. He wanted people to do good things. Jesus made the man's hand well. That was a good thing to do. That was what God wanted. Jesus tried to explain this to everyone. But the Pharisees did not understand. They thought that they were right. And they thought that Jesus was wrong. So they wanted to kill Jesus.
