Jesus in his own town

Jesus went to his own home town.

He went into the church and taught the people.

The people were amazed. They said to each other,

“Where did he learn to be so clever?

Isn’t he the carpenter’s son?

Isn’t his mother’s name Mary

and aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas?

Don’t his sisters live here too?

How can he teach us?”

Jesus said,

“Only in your own home town do people not want to listen to you.”

Jesus did not do many miracles there

because the people did not believe.

Matthew 13:53-58.
