12 men were Jesus’ very special friends.

They were called his disciples.

Jesus made them able to do great things for God.

They could sometimes make people well, as Jesus did.

Jesus sent them out to the towns and villages.

He told them to tell the people about God.

He told them to make people well again.

He told them not to take money with them.

He said they would be given what they needed.

“If people welcome you, stay with them.

If they do not welcome you or want to listen to what you say,

leave that place.”

Jesus said, “Whoever welcomes you welcomes me.

Whoever welcomes God’s message will be rewarded.

Whoever gives even a drink of water to one of my followers can be sure of a reward.

If anyone tells people that they belong to me, I will tell my Father God.

Matthew 10:1, 5-14, 32, 40-42.
