Isaiah says that God’s servant will treat everybody fairly
Isaiah was a man who lived about 700 years before Jesus.
Isaiah wrote a book.
God helped Isaiah to write his book.
The book was about what God would do in the future.
In his book Isaiah wrote:
God says, ‘This is my servant.
I have made him strong.
I have chosen him.
I am pleased with him.
I have given him my spirit.
My servant will be fair to all the people of the world.
He will be gentle.
He will not shout in the streets.
He will not argue in the streets.
He will help people who are weak.
He will encourage people who want to give up.
Some people treat other people badly.
My servant will always keep going.
He will never give up.
He will bring truth to the whole world.
He will bring goodness to the whole world.
He will bring fairness to the whole world.’
Later in the Bible a man called Luke tells us:
Jesus was going into a village.
Ten men came towards him.
Nine of the men were from Jesus’ country.
One man was a foreigner.
All of the men had a skin disease.
The men did not go near Jesus.
They shouted:
‘Jesus, Master, have pity on us.’
Jesus looked at the men.
He said:
‘Go to the priest.
Show him you are well.’
On the way they became well.
Only one man came back to Jesus.
He shouted loud praises to Jesus.
He bowed down to Jesus.
He thanked Jesus.
This man was the foreigner.
Jesus said:
‘Ten men became well.
Where are the other nine?
Why do they not thank God?
Why does this foreign man thank God?’
Jesus said to the foreign man:
‘Stand up and go.
You are well because you trust me.’
Jesus had healed the men from his country.
He had healed the foreign man too.
He had been fair to all the people.
He did not treat anybody badly.
Isaiah had said that God’s servant would be fair to everybody.
God’s servant would not treat anybody badly.
What Isaiah had written came true in Jesus.
