Jesus makes a fire by the lake – John 21:1-14
Jesus appeared to his friends again. This is how it happened.
Some of Jesus’ friends were together.
Peter said, “I am going fishing.”
“We will come too”, said his friends.
They fished all night but they did not catch any fish.
Early in the morning Jesus stood on the beach.
The friends did not know that it was Jesus.
Jesus called out to them, “Have you caught any fish?”
“Not even one”, they replied.
Jesus told them to throw the net out on the right side of the boat.
“Then you will catch some fish”, he said.
The friends threw the net out and caught a lot of fish.
There were so many fish that they could not pull the net into the boat.
One of the friends said, “That is the Lord.”
Peter jumped into the water.
The others came to the shore in the boat.
They pulled the net along. They were not far out on the lake.
When they got to the shore they saw a fire on the beach.
Some fish were cooking on the fire.
There was some bread there too.
Jesus said, “Bring some of the fish you caught.”
Peter went to help them to bring the net
on to the beach.
There were 153 fish but the net was not broken.
Jesus said, “Come and eat.”
The friends did not dare ask, “Who are you?”
They knew it was Jesus.
Jesus took the bread and the cooked fish and gave it to them.
This was the third time Jesus appeared to his friends after he came alive.
