1:1 What do you read about the author? Whom did he write this letter to?

1:2 What was Paul’s prayer? To whom did he pray?

1:3 Whom does Paul praise? Make a list of what God has done. Where has God blessed us? Describe that blessing.

1:4 When did God choose us? What does he want for us? What is his attitude to us?

1:5 What did God do for us? Make a list to show why he did this. What do you think about all that?

1:6 Make a list of what ‘we’ do. Why do we do those things? Make a list of what he has given to us. How do we receive those gifts?

1:7 Make a list of what Christ did for us. How was his death a part of that? Make a list of what God did. What difference might that make for us?

1:8 What else did God give? How do those gifts come to us? What do you think about all that?

1:9 What did God decide? How was Christ a part of that? What emotion did God express?

1:10 What will God do? When will he do it? What is the part of Christ in that? What do you think about all that?

1:11 Why did God also choose us? Make a list of the facts about God’s plan. What does God use in his plans? What do you think about all that?

1:12 In what are ‘we’ the first? What would we do?

1:13 Make a list of the events. What did you hear about? What were the results? What do you think about all that?

1:14 What benefits will the Holy Spirit give? What do you think about that?

1:15 Make a list of what Paul heard about. What might he have heard if the letter had been to you? What will you do about that?

1:16 Make a list of what Paul did. What do you think about that?

1:17 To whom does Paul pray? For what does Paul pray? What is different for you because you know that?

1:18 Make a list of the things for which Paul asks. What is different when God answers that prayer? What do you know about that?

1:19, 20 Make a list of what you learn about power. Whose power is this? (See 1:17.) What experience might you have of this power? What experiences did Christ have of this power?

1:21 Make a list of what God did. What do you learn about people who rule? What did you think about all that?

1:22 Make a list of what God did. What is not under the authority of Christ? What do you learn about the church? What do you think about all that?
