Numbers

About the Book of Numbers

This book tells us about the Israelites as they travelled from Egypt to a land called Canaan. It was a difficult journey through a desert.
Moses was the man that the Lord chose to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. Aaron was Moses' brother. He was the first priest for the Israelites.
Many times, the Israelites did not obey God. They complained about the journey. They did not trust God to take care of them. Then God had to punish them. So the journey took 40 years. All the men who started the journey died on the way.
Chapters 1-10 describe what happened at a mountain called Sinai. They tell us about the Israelites at the start of their journey.
Chapters 11-20 describe what happened in the desert, near to a place called Kadesh.
Chapters 21-36 describe what happened when the Israelites arrived near to Canaan.
