About the Book of Haggai

God punished the people of Judah (the Jews) because they did not serve him in a good way. God had given his Laws to them, but they did not obey them. So God sent them to live as slaves in a country called Babylon. After 60 years, they returned to their own country, and its important city, Jerusalem. But they still did not serve God in the way that he wanted. So God sent his prophet Haggai to speak to them. This book is about the message that God gave to Haggai for them. It also tells us what the people did after they heard Haggai's message.
