Chapter 1

1:1 Who are the writers? What do you learn about those people who first read it? What do you think about all that?

1:2 To whom is the prayer? For what is the prayer? What difference will that make for you?

1:3 What do the writers say that the readers must do? Make a list of the reasons why they should do that. What experiences have you had with faith? What experiences have you had with love towards other people?

1:4 What do you learn about when you can be ‘proud’? Where do the writers express that kind of pride? How do they express it? What might be the result?

1:5 What do you learn about God’s judgement? What are you able to do? What was the readers’ experience at the time? (Look at verse 4 also.)

1:6 What will God do? What is the writers’ opinion about that? What do you think about that?

1:7 What will God do for the readers and writers? When will that happen? What might be different when that happens?

1:8 Make a list of the kinds of people that God will punish. What is the difference between the groups? What will you do because you know that?

1:9 Make a list of the things that God will do. What will you do because you know that?

1:10 Make a list of the things that will happen ‘when Jesus comes’. What will you do? What do you think about all that?

1:11 Make a list of the things that the writers pray. What else do you learn about prayer? What will you do because you know that?

1:12 What is ‘this way’? (Look at verse 11 also.) What do you learn about glory? What do you learn about Jesus and about God?
