Introduction

The rich man needs the farm to live. When he leaves, he trusts farmers to look after the farm. The rich man has people who work for him when he’s away. He also has a son who works for him now and will own the farm when the father dies.

Questions to ask

V 1  What should the farmers do with the farm while the rich man is away?

V 2  Why did the rich man send a servant to his farm?

V 3  What did the farmers do to the servant?

V 3  Why did the rich man send more servants in verses 4 and 5?

V 5  What does this show us about the rich man?

V 6  How was the son different from the other servants he sent?

V 7  What is the big surprise in verses 7 and 8?

V 9  What does Jesus say the rich man will do to the farmers and the farm?

V 12  How do the listeners react and why?

Tenants ~ people who pay money for the place that they live in or for land or buildings that they use.

Vineyard ~ place where grapes grow.
