Prayer is saying “Sorry” to God
Jesus was passing through Jericho.
A man called Zacchaeus was there.
Zacchaeus was a very rich man.
His job was to collect taxes from the people.
Zacchaeus wanted to see Jesus.
But Zacchaeus was too small to see over the crowds.
He climbed a tree.
Then he could see Jesus.
Jesus said:
“Come down, Zacchaeus.
I want to come to your house.”
Zacchaeus came down quickly.
He said:
“Please come, Jesus.
I want you to come to my house.”
So Jesus went to Zacchaeus’ house.
Zacchaeus said:
“I will give half of my money to poor people.
I am sorry I have cheated people.
I will pay back four times what I have stolen.”
Jesus said:
“I forgive your sins.”
Zacchaeus showed he was sorry by what he did.
Jesus was glad that Zacchaeus said “Sorry”.
Jesus wants us to say “Sorry” too.
