Jesus climbs a mountain

Jesus took his friends Peter, James and John for a walk.

They climbed up a high mountain.

Suddenly the friends saw Jesus change.

His face shone like the sun.

His clothes were shining white.

Some men appeared.

One of the men was Moses.

Then a shining cloud came down from the sky.

A voice called out.

God was speaking. He said,

“This is my dear son. I am pleased with him.

Listen to what he says.”

Jesus’ friends were afraid.

They fell down on the ground.

They hid their faces.

Jesus came and touched them.

“Get up. Do not be afraid”, he said.

They looked up and saw no one else there; only Jesus.

Jesus told his friends not to tell anyone what they had seen until later.

Matthew 17:1-9.
