John in prison
An EasyEnglish Story Unit (AEE) from Matthew’s Good News
Joyce Ferrie
John was the man that God sent to tell people about Jesus.
He baptised Jesus. People called him John the Baptist.
John was put in prison.
He had not done anything bad.
John heard stories of what Jesus was doing.
He wanted to know if they were true stories.
John sent some friends to ask Jesus,
“Are you the man that God sent?”
Jesus said, “Go back and tell John what you hear.
Tell him what you see with your own eyes.
Lame people can walk, blind people can see.
The sick are made well and the deaf can hear.
Even the dead are made alive again.
The good news from God is preached to the people.”
John’s friends went back to him.
They told John what they had seen and heard from Jesus.
Jesus said to the people,
“John is a very great man, sent from God.
He was the one who was sent
to tell the people that I was coming.”
Matthew 11:2-11.
