God sends John

God told John to go and talk to the people.

He told him to give them a message.

This was the same John whose parents were

very old when he was born.

Now he was grown up.

God had something important for him to do.

John told the people to say they were sorry to God.

They were to say sorry for all the things they had done wrong.

If they were sorry, God would forgive them.

Crowds of people did as John told them.

Then John baptised them in the river.

He told them to go and show that they were sorry.

"How do we do that?" they asked.

"Share with other people, do not cheat

and do what is right", said John.

The people thought that John was the one.

The one that God had promised in the Bible that he would send.

They thought that John was the person who would save them.

John told them that another man was coming.

He was much greater than John.

After the people were baptised, Jesus was baptised.

Suddenly a dove flew down from heaven.

A voice from heaven said, "You are my own dear Son.

I am pleased with you."

Luke 3:1-22 No. 10.
