God sends an angel to Mary
An EasyEnglish Story Unit (AEE) from Luke’s Good News
Joyce Ferrie
God sent Gabriel with another message.
This time the angel had to speak to a young lady.
Her name was Mary.
Mary had promised to marry Joseph.
The angel came to her and said,
“Peace be with you.
The Lord’s blessing is upon you.”
Mary was very nervous.
She did not understand the angel’s words.
“Do not be afraid, Mary. God says you will have a baby boy.
You will call him Jesus. He will be great.
He will be called the Son of the Most High God.
The Lord God will make him a king.
His Kingdom will never end.”
Mary said, “How can this be? I am not married yet.”
“God can do anything. His power is great.
This child will be the Son of God”, said Gabriel.
“Do you remember your cousin Elizabeth?
She is going to have a baby even though she is old.
There is nothing God cannot do.”
Mary replied, “I am the Lord’s servant.
May these things happen as he has said.”
The angel left her.
