Pilate ordered Jesus to be whipped.

The soldiers made a crown out of thorn branches.

They put it on Jesus’ head.

Then the soldiers put a purple cloak on Jesus.

They said, “Long live the King of the Jews.”

They slapped him.

The soldiers were very cruel to Jesus.

Pilate said to the people,

“I can find no reason to find Jesus guilty.”

Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple cloak.

The people shouted, “Crucify him, crucify him.”

Once more Pilate told them that Jesus had done nothing wrong.

The leaders said,

“He said that he was the Son of God; that is against our law.”

Pilate asked Jesus, “Where do you come from?”

Jesus did not answer.

“I can set you free or have you killed; I am a powerful man”, said Pilate.

Jesus said, “You have power only because God gave you power.”

Pilate wanted to set Jesus free,

but the people shouted, “Kill him, crucify him.”

Pilate handed Jesus over to be crucified.
