The man at the pool
An EasyEnglish Story Unit (AEE) from John’s Good News
Joyce Ferrie
There was a small pool in the city.
People who were sick or lame sat or lay beside the pool.
A man who had been ill for 38 years was there one day.
Jesus saw him lying at the side of the pool.
“Do you want to get well?” he asked.
“Sir, I have no one to help me” replied the man.
“Get up, pick up your mat and walk”, said Jesus.
At once the man was well.
He picked up his mat and walked away.
One of the leaders saw the man.
“You are not allowed to carry your mat on a Sunday.”
The man replied, “The man who made me well told me to.”
“What man?” the leader asked.
The man who was made well did not know who Jesus was.
Later Jesus found the man in the church and talked to him.
The man told the leaders that it was Jesus who had made him well.
