Jacob’s sons |
Leah had four sons.
Their names were Reuben, Simeon, Levi and Judah.
But Jacob did not love Leah. He loved Rachel.
Rachel could not have children.
She was cross. She wanted children like Leah.
Rachel told Jacob to marry her servant Bilhah.
Bilhah had two sons for Rachel.
Their names were Dan and Naphtali.
Rachel was very happy.
Leah could not have any more children.
She was cross. She wanted Jacob to love her.
Leah told Jacob to marry her servant Zilpah.
Zilpah had two sons for Leah.
Their names were Gad and Asher.
Leah was very happy.
Then Leah had two more sons.
Their names were Issachar and Zebulun.
Then Leah had a daughter. Her name was Dinah.
God remembered Rachel.
Rachel prayed for a son.
God heard her prayer. He answered her.
Rachel had a son. His name was Joseph.
She was very happy.
She asked God for another son.
Jacob now had eleven sons and one daughter.
